Description

Initially, our facilities and services used a set of forms to gather information about the person with a disability and the workplace. As they were independent of each other, this made it difficult to get an overall picture and did not allow for smooth communication nor evaluative consistency between the various professionals managing the information on the person and the job.

After studying different methodologies used in other organisations and companies, in 1999 a multidisciplinary team from our organisation developed the Profiling Method. This tool enables the proper matching of the task to the person with disability, and also unifies criteria and standardizes the method to be used by professionals in the Area for Development of social inclusion and employment.

The Method collects and summarizes the information contained in the various forms about the people with disabilities (header files, monitoring, analysis of working conditions, medical and psychological history…), and provides us with two types of profiles:

• profile of the person: assessing the person’s abilities
• job profile: assessing the demands of the task

The information extracted from both profiles is reflected visually in the profile graph.

This method is supported by “SISLAN,” the Information System for the Management of People and Posts, a computer tool for the Organisation’s human resource management.
